Newsletter – Issue 2 2019

A few words from the President:

Thank you to everyone for your positive feedback regarding our new Theatre’s Façade – it’s looking great isn’t it! When you come in next, you will see there are lots of new things inside too! Including: The bio box has been completely stripped and renovated (thank you Jeff Sweeney and Michael Doherty), foyer and laundry revamped and repainted (thank you Katrin Chrysaphis for doing all the painting), the set for The Games Afoot is almost finished (thank you Roger Jennings and his team) and the cast and crew of the show have been rehearsing madly so they can bring you a brilliantly funny productions opening March 15th.

Rehearsals for Bombshells was very successful with over 20 people auditioning for the 6 roles – making it a difficult decision for talented Director Theresa Saunders. However, she now has a fabulous group of women to work with for our second show of the year which opens in May.

Good news – our Grant Application to the RSL for additional commemorative materials and plaques was successful! Thank you to Robyn Edwards from the Culture Caf at the Community Centre, for your assistance with the grant application. We now have an additional $2,640 to allocate in our budget to plaques and commemorative posters, folders etc. Our archives are looking good and with the renovation of our office at the theatre nearing completion, we will have everything displayed well shortly. Thank you to Bev Quealy for her continued assistance in updating our archives.

Our AGM is coming up on February 6th from 7pm – hope to see you there. The members of the committee will be presenting their reports and we have two new life members nominations. In regard to our Executive for 2018/19, we received a single nomination for every position – see report from our Secretary below.

Best wishes and see you at Z-PAC soon!

The Game’s Afoot (or Holmes for the Holidays)

March 15-30 2019

Written by Ken Ludwig
Directed by Liane Mills

It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry.

But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

A Big THANK YOU to Michelle and Les and the team at Hervey Bay Security

102 Islander Rd, Pialba QLD 4655 1300 651 427

For almost 4 years they have been monitoring the Security at Z-PAC, attending the premises when the alarm goes off and checking it day and night on their rounds.  Unfortunately, we are often subject to unwanted intruders and the security system is of great deterrent and keeps damage to a minimum.

We are now upgrading our security even further and Hervey Bay Security has offered to put in all the new units at no cost!!  How generous!! Please support this local business which not only provides an amazing range of security services, but also is a wonderful support of Z-PAC Theatre!

Thanks Michelle and Les!
