Newsletter – Issue 18 2018

A few words from the President:

As the year draws to an end and we close our theatre curtains for the last time for 2018, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our loyal patrons, hard-working members and fabulous supporters for their involvement this year in Hervey Bay’s beautiful Community Theatre. I would like to name everyone who has contributed, but this email with be ten pages long! Suffice to say, everyone’s contribution was so greatly appreciated and contributed to another very successful year at Z-PAC.
We had Six wonderful shows in 2018 and over 4,400 patrons attended, including lots of new faces of all ages. Over the holidays we are working on our first few shows of 2019. The Sherlock Homes Murder/Mystery/Farce The Games Afoot is rehearsing now for a March opening. The cast and crew are all busily learning lines and building sets – it’s going to be fabulous! The Australian Comedy Bombshells will be auditioning in February.
We are also using our quiet time to carry out some renovations including new foyer flooring (Thank you Adam Haidley, Hervey Bay Concreting) and new lighting and Bio Box renovations (thanks Jeff Sweeney and Michael Doherty), more air-conditioning and some general maintenance.
Tickets are now available for all shows. Memberships are now open and we will be having our great value Season Passes again, and Gift Vouchers too! Info and links to these are below. While we haven’t increased our ticket prices as such, this year we are forced to pass on the GST to patrons (which we absorbed in 2018, much to our Treasurer’s chagrin), so ticket prices appear slightly higher.
The Xmas Party was a great night enjoyed by all and the Fun Awards brought lots of laughter, so hopefully more entries in 2019!
Finally, a big congratulations to Trinity Smith (who starred in Z-PAC’s production of Wolf Lullaby). She has been awarded the Maryborough Regional Arts Council’s $1,200 Bursary and will be attending the McGregor Summer Arts Retreat at USQ Toowoomba in January. Thank you MRAC! We are so happy for Trinity and hope she enjoys this experience!
